Shayna still top: Kirsten and Aumi hit high sets - 2012 QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup, Wroclaw, Poland

Shayna Ng, the 23-year-old student from Singapore, remains on top of the leader board in the 48th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Wroclaw, Poland, but the gap has closed.

Shayna’s total pinfall is 6491, 28 pins ahead of Kirsten Penny of England and 49 ahead of defending champion Aumi Guerra of the Dominican Republic.

Aumi’s eight games today totalled 1932, just 12 pins off the World Cup record of 1944, set by Shalin Zulkifli of Malaysia in 2004. And Aumi’s first game was just 171! Kirsten hit 1903, including a 289 game.

Three players hit over 1800: Shayna herself with 1832, Danielle McEwan of the USA with 1815 and Rebecka Larsen of Sweden with 1803.

The cut for the round robin was made at 6099, Jane Sin of Malaysia, who was 82 pins ahead of 9th place, Heidi Thorstensen of Norway.

The tournament now moves to the round robin stage before the top three go forward to the TV stepladder finals. At present, Aumi in 3rd is 160 pins ahead of 4th placed Rebecka Larsen of Sweden, but in the round robin there are 30 bonus pins for a win, so anything is still possible.

All results are available on Results and fans can follow their favourite player’s frame by frame scores through the live scores, accessible through the web site.

The tournament is taking place at the Sky Bowling centre in Wroclaw, Poland. The finals will take place tomorrow, Saturday 1st December.
