Greece misses out by 1 pin: Singapore in the lead - 2012 QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup, Wroclaw, Poland

 

The cut for the top 24 players who will go through to the second round of the 48th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup has been made and it saw Blanka Hanusikova of the Czech Republic make it by just one pin ahead of Martha Karatzoula of Greece.

Blanka becomes the first player ever from the Czech Republic to advance to the second round of the tournament. She was delighted and said: “I was so nervous today, especially in my last two games, but I am so pleased that I will be playing in the next round. It is an honour for my country as well.”

Shayna Ng of Singapore remains in top spot on 4659, 99 pins ahead of England’s Kirsten Penny with defending champion Aumi Guerra of the Dominican Republic a further 50 pins behind in third.

Now in 4th place is Rebecka Larsen of Sweden who had the high five-game set for the day with 1193, including the day’s high game of 279.

Other women hitting over 1100 were Jane Sin of Malaysia (1191), Danielle McEwan of the USA  (1170), Krizziah Tabora of the Philippines (1150), Kirsten on 1148, Milki Ng of Hong Kong (1123), Aumi  (1108) and Janine Gabel of Germany (1100).

The women will now bowl a further 8 games tomorrow to determine the top eight to go through to the semi-final round robin on Saturday.

The tournament is taking place at the Sky Bowling centre in Wroclaw, Poland. The finals will take place on Saturday 1st December.
