SINGAPORE AIRLINES ANNOUNCES 2004 AMF WORLD CUP FARES

LONDON, ENGLAND, July 5, 2004 – Singapore Airlines, the national air carrier of the Republic of Singapore, announces special airfares and baggage allowances in connection with the 40th annual AMF Bowling World Cup, December 5-12 in Singapore.

The quoted fares are for round-trip economy tickets to Singapore from 41 departure cities and are valid through September 30, 2004 (exceptions are for airfares from Jakarta, Indonesia, and Cairo, Egypt, which are valid through October 2004). The fares are good for point-to-point travel on Singapore Airlines and do not include interline/domestic connections to the departure cities. Taxes and other related charges, such as insurance, security fees and fuel surcharges, also are not included.

The letters that follow the fares represent different classifications in economy class, and the lowest economy fares possible for those routes. As the dates of the 40^th AMF Bowling World Cup fall within the peak travel season for Singapore, bookings should be made as soon as possible, and passengers should request the fare class by letter designation to receive the stated fare. Several airfares quoted by Singapore Airlines come with travel restrictions such as length of stay; these airfares are noted in the schedule. The schedule also denotes nations not served by Singapore Airlines. Travelers from those countries may fly into Singapore via another airline that has a direct flight, or select a convenient location that is served by Singapore Airlines, where they may transfer to one of their flights.

World Cup bowlers flying Singapore Airlines from points of departure other than Canada and the United States will be allowed a total of 40 kg (88 lbs.) of check-in baggage. All other World Cup passengers from those cities will be allowed a total of 20 kg (44 lbs.) of check-in baggage, with the exception of journalists. Journalists will be allowed an extra 10 kg (22 lbs.) of check-in baggage; however, they must identify themselves as journalists, and the organization for which they are reporting, when making their flight reservations with Singapore Airlines (see below for Singapore Airlines contact information).

All World Cup passengers (including bowlers) flying Singapore Airlines out of the airline’s gateway cities in Canada and the United States will be allowed to check in two pieces of baggage, each piece not to exceed 32 kg (70 lbs.) in weight. Bowlers from 77 nations competed in the 2003 AMF Bowling World Cup in Tegucigalpa, Honduras last fall. While Ryan-Ciach has already qualified for Singapore, last year’s men’s champion, C.J. Suarez of the Philippines, must still win his national qualifying later this year to defend his title.

The 2004 AMF Bowling World Cup will be held at the new 34-lane SuperBowl bowling center under construction at the SAFRA club in Telok Blangah.
